Offered is this completely untouched, fabulous late 19th-early 20th century Ame ri can antique painted cast iron elephant door stop, with absolutely original paint and surfaces. It has naturally oxidized finish from age, consistent with its antique pedigree. The realization of the elephant is superb, with many anatomical details and accurate figuration. It appears to be fairly uncommon and with a different base and positioning of its legs than the quite similar Bradley and Hubbard cast iron elephant doorstop. This particular period piece, although from the same era as the black and white piece and with very similar overall figuration, namely the folds in the floppy ears and the pleats and wrinkles of the skin. This antique cast iron elephant doorstop is painted with a base metallic silver enamel paint. I has hand painted black enamel eye and mottled, variegated green enamel painted base. All the surfaces are original and untouched. Minor episodes of oxidation populate its surfaces. Elephant lovers and you know who you are, unite! Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
