A scarce and desirable antique cast iron doorstop of a seated Boston Terrier dog, circa 1920’s, as shown in Paul Hiller’s authoritative book on Boston Terrier Collectibles, on page 35. This is an original, not a reproduction, and comes directly from the private collection of a discriminating collector. We have chosen not to clean this piece in order to retain the original remaining paint, patina and yes, even the dust. The piece will arrive to its new owner as seen in the attached photos. Please examine them carefully. The doorstop measures 6 3/4″ tall by 6 3/4″ long. A great piece for the serious collector! The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron with themes that ranged from horse drawing vehicles and different breeds of dogs to tractors, steam shovels and guns. Lion Antique Cast Iron Doorstop. Gorgeous on a shelf or fireplace mantle just as a display. This pieces gives you strength, power & royalty feelings, it is a classic! 3/16″x 1/8″ in lower left area, some splits in the cast iron. I love the entire look of this piece, the lions mane is incredible, the overall patina & multi-color tones of the aged iron is superb! This could be used as a bookend. The small vertical rod on the backside I trimmed off about 1/4 inch to allow this to stand straight & stable. Perfect for any collection or display with any decor, it is a statement piece!
