Old Salt Fisherman Cast Iron Door Stop. This is a wonderful hard to find antique cast iron doorstop made by Eastern Specialty Co. It is marked on the back bottom base. The figure is an Old Salt fisherman wearing yellow rain gear and standing on what appears to be a gray rock. The door stop is in very good condition with minimal paint loss. The door stop measures about 14.5 inches tall and sits on a base that measures about 5 x 4 inches. Recycled packaging material may be used. This is for a very Large RARE Antique EASTERN SPECIALTY Co. “OLD SALT” Fisherman CAST IRON DOORSTOP. He stands just about 15 tall and weighs over 13 lbs. Research tells me there were 2 15 tall versions of him. One had the makers mark on the upper portion of the rock he’s standing on and the other has it very low and barely legible which this one is. He’s got a few dings as shown in the photos, but in amazing condition considering his purpose. I’d love to know the doors that he’s guarded over the years. Please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions. This is going to be one heavy parcel! Wrapped and packed could make him over 20 lbs. I do sometimes use recycled materials when it warrants. A wonderful old cast iron Old Salt Fisherman. Fresh from a Connecticut home. The doorstop was made by the Eastern Specialty Company or Lancaster, Pa. It is marked Eastern Spec. On the back of the base, weighs a little over 13 pounds and stands 14.5 inches high. The stop is in excellent condition with no breaks, cracks or repairs. The paint is old and original with no overpainting. At first I questioned whether the beard and hands were repainted but found other examples on the net and Worthpoint painted identically. I have for your consideration a marvelous cast iron Owl on Books Doorstop made by the Eastern Specialty Co. In the early 1900’s. The Eastern Specialty Co. Was in operation from 1893 to 1930. This one is marked 68. This doorstop measures 9 1/4 inches tall by 6 1/4 inches. This wonderful doorstop retains most of its original paint. Nice addition to your cast iron collection.
