This is an astounding Hubley antique cast iron doorstop specimen. This is Hubley #279 circa 1910s-1920s which depending on paint is called a Fox Terrier or an Airedale. This is the Airedale. It stands 8.5 inches high and 9.5 wide. What makes this an exceptional Hubley specimen is the incredible condition the original paint job is in. While there is minor chipping from the nose and some strike marks on the back legs where it would have held a door open, it’s paint job is flay and applied thickly and is pretty much intact. The piece has a smooth surface. It is two pieces attached tightly together by a screw. The slotted screw is well hidden with some spackle and paint I have included a picture of the screw as the last image which you can slightly make out. There are the desirable subtle hand file marks verses coarser marks that would be made by machine in a reproduction. It is a Hubley collectors dream.
