Antique Fireplace Hearth Cast Iron Doorstop with Cauldron and Cat

It features a cauldron on a fireplace and a black and white cat warming itself up by the fire. It is in great overall condition, lots of paint coverage still. Minor surface discolor on the base.

Rare Magnificent Antique Gilt Cast Iron Peacock Doorstop Fireplace Screen. It is made of 2 separate cast pieces that simply slot together and are nice and tight when slotted. Has what appears to be the original gold gilt painted finish. Seems a bit small for a fireplace screen but might be at 15 high. I absolutely guarantee it is a genuine antique with lots of authentic age. No cracks or chips, excellent condition with a nice aged patina – see my 9 photos.

This is a rare sleeping cat doorstop. This kitty has a nice ribbon collar and was made by the National Foundry. It is a hollow form doorstop that has nice aged patina. Paint is gone, but it has remnants of being painted black in years past. I will allow the new owner to decide if they want to repaint or not. It measures 9 1/2″ x 6″ x 3.25 and weighs. Antique Original Cast Iron Fireplace Salesman’s Sample Or Doorstop 13 Rare

At first glance, you might think this is just another cast iron doorstop. Although it certainly could be used as one, I believe it was originally designed to be used as a salesman’s sample. I’ve never seen another like it and could only find one online that was very similar, and it’s described as a rare salesman’s sample. Makes sense to me. It’s a complete fireplace, with a mantel that has a lion and its prey on the top with a shield between them. There are columns on both sides of the fireplace, with brass bars across the fire pit, as well as a brass fender. The fender is not attached to the piece, but simply rests in front of it. Amazing that it was not lost over the years! The fireplace has ornate cast iron leaves and fruit decoration on both sides. This intriguing piece is all original, down to the nuts and bolts that hold it together. It’s a large and heavy piece, measuring 11″ wide and 13″ tall. It’s in excellent condition for its age, which research tells me is circa 1880s.
