Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Hawk Standing on Brown Perch. For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-Hawk1. Description: A very nice antique cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of a hawk perched on what appears to be brown rock with large leaves next to it. The hawk is standing on the perch with his tail pointing down and its head looking slightly downwards. The hawk is gray in color with a yellow beak, yellow talons, and blackeyes. The base as well as the perch are colored in brown. The piece retains most of its original paint with some losses to the front of the beak, the edge of the base, and a few small spots throughout the body of the piece. The back of the doorstop has brown coloring and is stamped 78 at the bottom edge. A great looking piece worthy of a spot in your collection. Please carefully review the photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain but most likely early to mid 1900s (early to mid 20th century). Size: Measures 6″ in height with the base measuring 4 1/8″ by 2 3/4. The piece weighs slightly over 2 pounds and one ounce. Marks: Marked with the stamped number “78” on the back at the bottom edge. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is a nice old doorstop in excellent condition and retaining most of its original paint. A beautiful piece which would display very well in your collection of doorstops. Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains quite a bit of its original paint with some losses (estimated at better than 98%). Most of the paint losses are front of the beak and the edge of the base as well as additional minor paint losses throughout. The piece is a bit soiled and would probably benefit for a good cleaning. It does have some minor rust signs to the bottom of the base. It also lost one of the four round pieces of felt affixed to the bottom of the base. Be that as it may, the piece is just great looking and would display very well in your collection. Please see photos for additional condition information. Antique Cast Iron Civil War Soldier Door Stop Original Gray Paint. Very good condition for age. Very few small paint chips. One on end of soldiers nose on his face, a couple on hands and few other minor spots. Very rare to find one with paint in this good of condition that it is in. Does need some fine cleaning, is dusty on bottom near feet. Very good original condition for age. Measures approximately 7 1/8 tall. Description and pictures are detailed to the best of my ability. Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Sitting Off-White Persian Cat Pink Ears By Hubley. For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop or Cat Related Collection-HubleyCat2. Description: A very nice antique cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of a sitting Persian cat. The cat is sitting on his hind legs with his tail laying towards his front legs. The cat is looking sideways and has wide eyes with black pupils. The cat’s body shows details of its fur and is painted in an off-white color (could be white and got soiled) with gray highlights. The cat’s ears are colored in pink as does his nose (only a little it of color is left on the nose). The doorstop is made of two pieces joined together with two long screws the heads of which are covered with the external paint. The casting and the painting are very well done and show great details of the cat’s fur, paws, eyes, and mouth. The piece is marked on the inside on both halves with the word “HUBLEY” and has the number 802. Please see page 118 of John and Nancy Smith’s book “The Doorstop Book; An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting” published in 2006 by Schiffer Publishing Ltd of Atglen PA for a similar example. The colors are a bit soiled and have grayed with age. The piece is soiled but still looks great. It does have some rust signs to the surface mostly on the inside, which can be seen in the photos.
