Up for sale is a wonderful antique late 19th century solid cast iron figural doorstop. It’s a nice quality casting, is a heavy piece, and has acquired a lovely patina from age. The stop is in the form of a young girl standing on a grass designed base tightly holding a basket in her hand. It is in nice condition and measures 9 3/4 inches tall by 5 inches wide by 2 inches thick. The piece has been repainted but is a very early repaint. RARE LATE 19TH C 12 PUNCH & JUDY CAST IRON DOOR STOP ORIG BRONZE FINISH. This fabulous cast iron Judy holding Punch door stop is out of my collection, and I got it from an estate many years ago. It weighs apprx 5 1/2 lbs, and you can see from the back how it was pressed into the mold. It also still has the bronze finish, and it has excellent detail. This one is in “as is, as found, as photographed, ” what you see is what you get condition. This girl has her tail, but it has been tacked back on more than once. I have one with possibly original paint and guess what?? There is a metal rod that attaches her head to her body and when she is moved, her head nods. There is rust and remnants of white paint. There are no other breaks or repairs other than her tail. As I said, she’s heavy-14lbs. She measures approximately 13″ nose to tail and is 10 1/2″ high (to the top of her ear). She would be a phenomenal addition to someone’s farmhouse decor. Your friends won’t have one?? And you probably won’t see another one of these for awhile. LATE 19TH to EARLY 20TH CENTURY AME RI CAN ANTIQUE PAINTED CAST IRON TUSKED. ELEPHANT FIGURATIVE DOORSTOP, in. ORIGINAL METALLIC SILVER, GREEN &. BLACK ENAMEL PAINT, with UNPAINTED BASE & NATURALLY OXIDIZED with ORIGINAL PATINA. [100% original, dry painted surfaces]. Late 19th-early 20th century Ame ri can antique hand painted cast iron figurative doorstops of fauna. 6 12″ Width x 5 34″ Height x 3 Depth. Offered is this completely untouched, fabulous late 19th-early 20th century Ame ri can antique painted cast iron elephant door stop, with absolutely original paint and surfaces. It has naturally oxidized finish from age, consistent with its antique pedigree. The realization of the elephant is superb, with many anatomical details and accurate figuration. It appears to be fairly uncommon and with a different base and positioning of its legs than the quite similar Bradley and Hubbard cast iron elephant doorstop. This particular period piece, although from the same era as the black and white piece and with very similar overall figuration, namely the folds in the floppy ears and the pleats and wrinkles of the skin. This antique cast iron elephant doorstop is painted with a base metallic silver enamel paint. I has hand painted black enamel eye and mottled, variegated green enamel painted base. All the surfaces are original and untouched. Minor episodes of oxidation populate its surfaces. Elephant lovers and you know who you are, unite! Good to Very Good overall antique condition. RARE & NEAR MINT COLORFUL HUBLEY CAST IRON ” STYLIZED PEACOCK ” DOORSTOP DOOR STOP! Highly Sought After Treasure in almost Perfect Condition with Original Paint, this Antique Doorstop was made by the Hubley Manufacturing Company of Lancaster, PA in the 1920’s – 1930’s. Hubley made these in two sizes, one taller and narrower, and one shorter and wider. This one is the shorter and wider version. It measures 6 1/4″ tall and 6 1/2″ wide and is made of solid cast iron, which makes it weigh over 5 pounds! This doorstop came in several color variations, but this one, in the majestic Royal Blue, Gold, Orange and Green, is the most favored. It appears in this size and coloration in Jeanne Bertoia’s book ” Doorstops “. It also appears in this coloration in John and Nancy Smith’s ” The Doorstop Book “, but in the slightly taller and narrower version (7 1/8″ X 5 1/4″). RARE LATE 19TH CENTURY LARGE, 12’PUNCH & JUDY’ (UK) CAST IRON DOOR STOP, C. 1880, W/ORIGINAL COLOR ENAMEL PAINTED SURFACES. 12″ Height x 9″ Width x 3 ½ Depth. Original painted enamel surfaces. Only dusted, rinsed with tepid water and then quickly dried with a soft cotton cloth and then oiled to prevent oxidation to the cast iron surfaces. It was originally filthy and covered with dust, grime and sediment. It had to be cleaned in order to photograph and allow the viewer to see its honest surfaces. There are some minor episodes of oxidation, which only prove that the piece is in fact an original, period one and not a reproduction and which, still features its original color painted surfaces. There are no repairs or damage to report. It’s stunning, exceedingly rare and in about more or less the same condition it was in, oh say, about 135-140 yrs ago, which in and of itself is simply remarkable. Found along with another black painted door stop from the same estate on the North Shore of MA. Honest, straight and as right as rain. Magnificent & top shelf. In considerably well preserved overall antique condition. Quite a rare feat to find a large painted’Punch and Judy’ 12 cast iron doorstop, with its original painted enamel finish. RARE LATE 19TH CENTURY, LARGE 12’PUNCH & JUDY’ (UK) FIGURATIVE, MONUMENTAL CAST IRON DOOR STOP. 1880, W/ORIGINAL MATTER BLACK PAINTED ENAMEL FINISH. Late 19th century cast iron English door stops. 12″ Height x 9″ Width x 3 ½ Depth. Original matte black painted enamel surface. Only dusted, rinsed with tepid water and then quickly dried with a soft cotton cloth and then oiled to prevent oxidation to the cleaned cast iron surfaces. It was originally filthy and covered with dust, grime and sediment. It had to be cleaned in order to photograph and allow the viewer to see its honest, original painted surfaces. There are some minor episodes of oxidation and superficial breaks in the paint, which only prove that the piece is in fact an original, period one and not a later reproduction and which, still features its original black painted surface. There are no repairs and no significant damage to report. It’s stunning, exceedingly rare and in about more or less the same condition it was in, oh say, about 135-140 years ago, which in and of itself, is simply remarkable. Found along with another painted’Punch & Judy’ large, 12 door stop from the same estate on the North Shore of Massachusetts. Honest, straight and as right as rain. Magnificent & top shelf.
