- Antique Cast Cat Doorstop, Large Hubley Mark, Great Paint

Here’s an old cast iron figural CAT doorstop, manufactured by HUBLEY and probably produced in the first quarter of the 20th century. While this certainly not the most uncommon shape produced by Hubley… It’s the most interesting paint coloration I’ve seen on the model. Most seem to be white, but this is a really eye catching blend of a greenish yellow, brown and a little black. At some much earlier some it has had a little touch up.. I’m not sure how extensive, but I don’t think enough to change the original character of the piece. Lots of little paint chips have been knocked away showing that the piece served its original purpose well. Nice strong Hubley mark on the base. Size is 5-3/4″ X 10-1/2″ X 5-1/2.

Antique 10 1/2 Cast Iron Door Stop-Lady With Purse & Bonnet-Triangle W Mark

Offered is this antique painted cast iron door stop in the shape of a lady. She is dressed in a Victorian-era outfit, complete with purse and bonnet. The back is stamped with what looks like “Pat Pend” and there is also what looks like a triangle and W mark but I don’t know what company that might indicate. There are also some old pencil-written numbers that may have even included the original price (see last photo). I don’t know how old the piece is but it looks like it dates to the late 1800s-early 1900s to me. The piece is approx. 10 1/2″ tall, about 6″ wide and approx. 3 from front to back. I see no damage to the metal but the paint has moderate wear, cracking, etc. Obviously this is a heavy item it weighs almost 6 lbs. This item is in the category “Collectibles\Metalware\Cast Iron”. Antique Thick Brass Turtle Doorstop Door Stopper Patina Oval S Mark. An antique door stopper in the shape of a turtle. Nice even patina except for the tip of tail where you can see the yellow brass. Not magnetic at all. He is about 7.5 inches long by 5.5 inches wide. Stands 2.25 inches. A lot of heft to this guy… Weighs 2.6 pounds. This is not a common item. Has a foundry mark on the bottom. An unusual cast iron Victorian door stop probably depicting the commemoration of a wartime victory. The laurel wreath handle encloses a fleur-de-lys above various weaponry, spears, a cutlass and canons with canon balls at the base. On the back is the Reg No 183576 and the Victorian lozenge Design Registration Mark which is rather illegible. Dimensions: Height 44cm, width at base 24cm, depth at base 13cm. HERE IS A VINTAGE, COLLECTIBLE, HUBLEY METAL FIGURAL SCULPTURE OF A PERSIAN CAT IN THE FORM OF A DOORSTOP. IT IS CAST IRON WITH A WHITE PAINTED FINISH. THE DETAIL OF THE CAT’S FEATURES IS CLEAR AND PRECISE. THIS FIGURAL MEASURES 9 INCHES HIGH; 6 1/2 INCHES DIAMETER AT THE BASE; AND 5 INCHES IN DEPTH. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL CASTING IN TWO PIECES AND BEARS THE “HUBLEY” MARK AND A NUMBER WHICH IS NOT IDENTIFIABLE ON THE UNDERSIDE. THE PAINTING IS HARDER TO DESCRIBE AS IT APPEARS THIS DOORSTOP MAY HAVE BEEN PAINTED GRAY INITIALLY WITH HIGHLIGHTS OF THE INNER EARS, NOSE, EYES AND MOUTH IN PINK, RED, BLACK, YELLOW AND GREEN.
