Genuine Rare Antique Cast Iron Hubley Sitting Cat Doorstop #1720 Original Paint
Hubley was famous for their wonderful cast iron toys, doorstops and book ends. Their creations are true Americana! This Hubley sitting cat doorstop is documented as being very rare. It is a model of the Hubley sitting cat doorstop (marked #1720) and was made around 1920. The cat is painted yellow, wears a blue bow and stands on a blue cushion. The paint appears to be original and untouched. The doorstop has typical wear found on these old cast iron doorstops including wear to the paint, chips, rust, scrapes, dirt and scratches. It has not been altered by me by waxing, touching up or anything else. I only used the cat doorstop for display and not as a doorstop. I believe the condition is very good or better compared to similar cast iron doorstops. The yellow & blue paint on the doorstop is still vibrant. The aged wear and patina on the paint is part of the great charm for these American treasures from the past. Materials: Cast iron & paint. Design: Sitting cat with bow. Antique cast iron French bull dog door stop original paint PRICE CUT
The paint is original and in good condition for it’s age. The white paint shows wear, age, and some voids. He is very solid. All the seams are very tight, he is put together with a screw in his left flank. He measures: 10″ long, 10″ high from bottom to tip of his ears; and 4 across widest front feet stance.
