Here’s an old cast iron figural CAT doorstop, manufactured by HUBLEY and probably produced in the first quarter of the 20th century. While this certainly not the most uncommon shape produced by Hubley… It’s the most interesting paint coloration I’ve seen on the model. Most seem to be white, but this is a really eye catching blend of a greenish yellow, brown and a little black. At some much earlier some it has had a little touch up.. I’m not sure how extensive, but I don’t think enough to change the original character of the piece. Lots of little paint chips have been knocked away showing that the piece served its original purpose well. Nice strong Hubley mark on the base. Size is 5-3/4″ X 10-1/2″ X 5-1/2.

This is a wonderful example of a John Graham Canvasback from the Upper Bay of the Chesapeake Bay. John Graham was born and lived in Charlestown, Maryland (1822 – 1912) located up above the Susquehanna River. This great old Cast Iron Sinkbox Decoy is in exceptional condition without any cracks or repairs. It has its original finish although there is some age related pitting. It has a Solid Body with a great aged patina. This Antique piece of Cast Iron is quite heavy weighing over 18 pounds. It measures 13 inches long, 5 1/2 inches in height and 6 1/4 inches in width.
