Early 1900’s Full Casting Dutch Boy Cast Iron Doorstop. An hard to find piece with original paint. Full figure casting done in two halves and joined from the back with a screw. Little Dutch boy with wooden shoes standing on a square base. Good original condition with some moderate paint loss, particularly to the face area. Measures 11 inches tall on a 3 1/2 square base. The paint is original. It weighs about 3 1/2 lbs. Condition: As found, see photos. No damage or repairs. Wear as expected with age & use. Up for consideration is an early antique (1920s) Old Salt Sailor carrying fishing net. He is solid cast iron. I believe it to be and Possibly is made by the Hubley manufacturing Co. The paint is all original and is in as found condition. He weighs 3.5 lbs and measures 6.5″ tall x 3″ long x 2.25 deep. See pics for condition and more info. He has some wear from age as you will see from pics. The felt on base has worn down but remnants of it still there. I researched him and found he him in the Doorstop Book page 247. This is an absolutely wonderful doorstop/bookend. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I try and represent my items as best I can. Two recessed flat head, slotted screws between the ribs and hip and other up towards neck. Beautiful detail in body structure. Realistic detail in facial structure. This Cast Iron Old Salt Door Stop comes from my parents Scituate, Mass Summer Home and dates back over 75 years at least! This doorstop looks as if it could be used as a bank too by the slit in the bank. 15 inches tall and approximately 13 pounds. There is a name on the top of the base, I just can not read it as it’s been eroded from salt it seems like. The paint is in EXCELLENT condition.
