From a New England estate. Nice circa 1920’s cast iron door stop made by the A. Greenblatt Studios in New York City depicting Sulgrave Manor, the ancestral home of the American President George Washington. Very good condition with most of it’s original polychrome decoration intact. Rusty reverse side where raised lettering provides details of manufacture. Measures 10 3/4″W X 9″H X about 3D.
The doorstop is cast in the form of a hawk perched on what appears to be brown rock with large leaves next to it. The hawk is standing on the perch with his tail pointing down and its head looking slightly downwards.
