RARE old RECORD TOOLS advertising Gnome. Hi and welcome to my listing for this rare old solid cast iron advertising piece from RECORD TOOLS. The Gnome is solid cast iron weighing in at over 8kg and standing about 10 inches high. I believe it was manufactured by Record Tools as a promotional figure for their tools and probably used as a counter top display but would make a great door stop. Record Tools are a Sheffield based company that have been in business for over 100 years. I have very occasionally come across these figures and sometimes they have the word Bulldog impressed into them underneath the word Record I believe this to be an earlier variant just having the word Record and the casting seems a little crisper. The colour is more of a green than the more traditional and common blue ones again suggesting an earlier piece. The patina is wonderful with the paint loss in areas and wear over the years it has got bags of character a real collectors piece. ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE DON’T HESITATE TO ASK.
