Antique Cast Iron Door Stop – Dog. Dog used in my Great Grandfathers Soda Shop from 1913-22. Please see photos of my Great Grand Father’s Pharmacy in Philadelphia. This Cast Iron Dog Door Stop was used for 9 years between 1913 and 1922. It saw daily use to keep the front door open for customers in the non-winter months. It shows the appropriate and expected pattern of wear on both sides as it held the door over time. If you want a piece of history that has served its purpose and survived then this is the one you want! Dimensions: 8 inches x 5 inches. Weight 4 3/4 lbs. Not sure if this is a Hubley or not. Specializing in toys and doorstops their artisans had an advanced sand casting process executed to perfection. The item is in great condition with very minimal paint loss in a desirably worn surface. The doorstop has an original leather collar around the neck also in great condition. These seldom survive the test of time and are a nice embellishment on this wonderful Hubley doorstop.
