Antique Cast Iron Heavy Doorstop Ship with Sails or Galleon Marked No 205

For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-SailShip21212. The doorstop has two feet on which it stands and a central stop which is what would stop the door in its place. The back also has two short prongs at mid height, which extend outwards and are probably to ensure the doorstop does not touch the door. Very nice antique doorstop, marked No 205 on the back, which is large and heavy. This is a nice size piece and weighs over 5 pounds. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Early to mid 20th century. Origin: Uncertain but most likely the USA. Size: Measures 10 1/2″ in width and is 11″ high. The doorstop weighs slightly over 5 pounds. Marks: Stamped on the back “NO 205″. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice antique doorstop. It weighs over 5 pounds and has most of its original paint. Condition: This doorstop is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. Rare Antique Large Cast Iron Doorstop Tan and Brown Painted Full Figure Horse

Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Full Figure Horse Tan and Brown Color. For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-Horse1. Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a full figured Horse. The horse is standing on all four legs with his tail curved and resting on its hind leg. The doorstop is painted in tan color with brown highlights on top of the horse’s back and mane. The horse’s ears are standing up and his head is turned a bit sideways. The piece is very well cast as you can see. Look at the details of the face, the rib cage, the mane’s hair, and the details of the tail. The door stop is made of two parts held together with at least one screw, which we can see under the paint. Since the screw is covered with the original paint, we did not attempt to open the horse to see the inside. The one screw that we can see appears not to have been unscrewed in the past and we decided not to try to unscrew it to verify the existence of marks on the inside. The piece appears to be all original with quite a bit of its original paint remaining but having losses to the paint. This is a nice size piece and weighs over 6 pounds and 6 ounces. See page 152 in John and Nancy Smith’s book “The Doorstop Book” published by Schiffer Books of Atglen PA in 2006 for a similar example. Please carefully review the photos presented as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Uncertain, but most likely sometime in the early to mid 1900s. Size: Measures 10 1/2″ in height, 12″ in length from end to end, and is 3 1/4 at its widest. The doorstop weighs over 6 pounds and 6 ounces. Maker: Uncertain but most likely Hubley. Marks: Unmarked on the outside. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice substantial antique doorstop. It would make a great addition to your collection. Condition: This doorstop is in very good condition with no breaks or repairs. It is all original and retains quite a bit of its original paint (>85%). It does have paint losses especially on the back, the mane, the tail, and the face. The paint is also a bit dried-up and as such easily flakes off in some spots. Be that as it may, the piece is beautiful and worthy of a spot in your collection. Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Black and White Painted Full Figure Cocker Spaniel. For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-Spaniel1. Description: Antique cast iron doorstop cast in the form of a full figured Cocker Spaniel. The dog is standing on all four legs with his tail stretched up and his head turned to the side. The doorstop is painted in white with black highlights on the dog’s back, ears and around his eyes. The dog’s ears are down as is typical with spaniel breeds. The dog is wearing a thin red collar which does not completely go around his neck. The dog’s eyes are nicely colored with reddish yellow surrounding a large black pupil. The piece is very well cast as you can see. Look at the details of his face, the fur on his ears, and the details of the fur over his entire body. The door stop is made of two parts held together with at least one screw, which we can see near the back close to the tail. It would seem that it should have a second screw but such a screw is not obvious. The one screw that we can see appears not to have been unscrewed in the past and we decided not to try to unscrew it to verify the existence of marks on the inside. The piece appears to be all original with quite a bit of its original paint remaining but having quite a bit of losses to the paint. This is a nice size piece and weighs about 6 pounds and 10 ounces. Antique Mutt with His Bone Cast Iron Dog Doorstop Creations Co. Very Good Pre-Owned Condition. Original Paint, showing some paint loss and wear consistent to age. Note: Due to age, I gently wiped it over, and it will need more cleaning. Measures approximately 8 3/8″ Tall X 5 5/8″ W X 2 Front to Back. Also the original owner had an old metal chain as a collar around the neck of the dog, which was left as received. Due to wear and age the name of the Doorstop is printed on the very bottom front edge of the Base, somewhat hard to read, but it can be, when you look very closely. I was told by a knowledgeable person who specializes in Antique, Vintage Cast Iron Items, the Doorstop was made by Creation Co. They were only in operation for 1 year, closed to THE DEPRESSION Era.
