AnTiQuE BOSTON TERRIER Bulldog Cast Iron Dog DOORSTOP vtg hubley-style

Antique Boston Terrier Bulldog Dog Cast Iron Doorstop. This is a genuine old piece but it is NOT an original by Hubley. I found this antique cast iron Boston Terrier doorstop recently at a sale. There were many companies Hubley, National Foundry, Albany Foundry, etc… That produced these doorstops in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. They were most popular during the 1920s – 1940s. Many of them were made out of two pieces. Judging by the paint, smooth metal/edges, and seams that are a tight fit, one can tell it is an old quality repro and not one of the later 20th century repros. The paint is original and authentic though I feel like the eyes and mouth could have been touched up some time ago. Antique Doorstop of Woman, 8.75 Tall 6 lbs, 11 oz Judd Cast Iron c1925

An attractive art nouveau doorstop of a woman holding her dress wide. Cast iron with a dark copper wash; a magnet sticks to the surface. Made in the United States about 1925, most likely by H. The doorstop has the code 1251 embossed on the center of the back side but it has no Judd shop mark. The doorstop, painted, is listed in John C. Smith’s The Doorstop Book (2006) on p. 191, where it is titled Deco Girl. It is also listed as a pair of bookends in Kuritzky and De Costa’s Collector’s Encyclopedia of Bookends (2006) on p. The surface of the doorstop is original and in pretty good condition. It has small rubbed/abrasion spots at one thigh, the waist, and the stomach; a small white spot on the right skirt; and what might be polish residue in the dress folds to the left of the woman’s waist. These flaws are unobtrusive in normal light and. Are hard to photograph. They show up best in photograph 5. Or other damage to the doorstop. He felt on the bottom is a replacement. The doorstop sits flat and stably on its base. Dimensions: The doorstop is approximately 8.75″ tall, 7″ wide, and 3 deep at the base. It weighs 6 pounds, 10. Antique 1930s original Hubley German Shepard Dog Cast Iron Doorstop. Condition is Excellent but “Used”. Dimensions are 9 1/2 in tall, 10 in long and 5 in deep. Wear consistent with age and use. Manufactured in 1930’s. There are some minor paint chips here and there but none that are that major. Screw hole shown on back in pic. Displays well in any room! Please check out my other listings.
