Antique HUBLEY Cast Iron Flowers in Vase 10 Door Stop Gladiolas #489. Offered for your consideration is this Antique HUBLEY Cast Iron Floral Door Stop #489 Gladiolas. It features an impressive and vibrant colored floral display consisting of Gladiolas, Easter Lilies, Gloriosa Daisies and possibly Lilacs in an urn-form vase on a triangle point pedestal. This stop retains its original painted surface. Marked on the reverse, lower: “489”. It measures 10″ tall x 8″ wide x 2-7/8 deep and weighs in at 2 lbs 14 oz. Perhaps the only thing more welcoming than an open door is a brightly colored cast-iron doorstop holding it ajar. Like the best collectibles, these seemingly indestructible household objects are as visually appealing as they are practical, adding a bit of charm and whimsy to any home. This item is identified as “Gladiolas” by Hubley and pictured on page 51 in John and Nancy Smiths “The Doorstop Book” and in the book Doorstops, Identification & Values, by Jeanne Bertoia on page 139.
