








Vintage University of Pennsylvania Bookends CSG Cast Iron Bronze Seal Midcentury. Pair of vintage cast iron bookends featuring the official seal of the University of Pennsylvania. Made by Charles S. (CSG USA), known for their mid-20th century collegiate memorabilia. These heavy bookends weigh approximately 4 lbs each and feature a bronze-finish medallion with the Latin motto. “Sine Moribus, Vana” – meaning Without morals, all is in vain. The seal displays a stack of books labeled with the classical subjects of a liberal education: Theologia, Astronomia, Philosophia, Mathematica, Logica, Rhetorica, Grammatica. The same form was used for other schools like Dartmouth and Harvard during this period. Marked on reverse with the CSG USA makers mark. Strong academic, historic, and architectural presence-ideal for collectors of university memorabilia or classic decor. Condition: Excellent structural condition with light finish wear from age. Material: Cast iron with bronze wash finish.
