Antique Cast Iron Hubley Elephant Door Stop

Antique Cast Iron Door Stop. Early 1900’s very finely detailed. Color is a vibrant Red and original. I haven’t see one of these in red before. It does have some paint loss, surface ware, dirt and oxidation associated with age. I haven’t attempted to clean it. Most of the paint loss is on the tusks. The rest of the paint loss in minimal. The dimensions are approx: 12″ long x 8 1/2 ” tall x 4 wide. The weight is approximately 8 1/2 pds. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns (Smitsonian Institution, website). Hubley’s main competition in the early years was Arcade Richardson 1999, p. Early toys were known for their complexity. This is a fine example of the exquisite work and detail associated with the Hubley Manufacturing Company and would be a great addition to any collection. This is an as is sale. This rare antique cast iron bunny rabbit doorstop or garden stature was found at a recent estate sale. The solid cast iron rabbit is in excellent condition, with no breaks, repairs or damage. The rabbit has the original paint with gold accents in almost perfect condition. The rabbit has wonderful vivid details, ears down, collar, concave eyes, tiny bob tail and more. The solid cast iron rabbit weighs just over 5 pounds. The rabbit is 8 ¾ inches tall, 3 1/2 inches wide at the base and 5 inches deep. Antique 1905 Hubley Cast Iron Rare 353 Pekingese Dog Doorstop/Bookend

Listing is for an original Hubley Mfg. (Lancaster, Pa) numbered 353 rare Pekingese sculptured dog bookend/doorstop. This piece has always stayed in Pennsylvania as it belonged to my mother and is all original with no re-paint and in excellent condition for its age. It measures 5″h x 5″ w. She always used it as a doorstop but it is a bookend and that is how we used it. This piece has always been in our family and is a great collector piece to own. Smooth, cast iron, with grinder marks indicative of authenticity. Overlap of original airbrushed colors, also indicative of authenticity. One large recessed flat head screw. Strong rib cage definition and detail in the leg muscles, ribs & facial features. Overall wear commensurates with age. 10″ tall x 10″ length.
