Up for sale is this beautiful and rare cast iron. Sitting cat door stop. Original paint is in great aged condition for a 90 year old item. There is some minimal paint loss due to the age. Antique American cast iron painted figurative doorstops. 3 ½ ” Width x 7″ Height x 2 Depth. All original, estate fresh and with its original painted surfaces. Unbastardized, untouched and undisturbed. This is the real McCoy and not a more recent contemporary facsimile or worthless reproduction. The original painted surfaces and their distressed quality, suffering paint loss and a fatigued finish, is entirely congruent with its original, authentic, honest antique pedigree. ORIGINAL ANTIQUE SPENCER GUILFORD CT CAST IRON PELICAN DOORSTOP. This is just a great original piece. This is one of those pieces I would love to add to my personal collection but truthfully, I dont collect door stops and think this is a piece that belongs in a real collection. This is one of the rarest doorstops created by Spencer Guilford. Standing 14 1/2 inches tall and measuring about 7 inches from tip of beak to tail it is really a very good example. Marked at the pelican’s ankle with the Spencer Guilford CT mark, the original paint is still incredibly strong. There is some areas of loss with the lighter under paint showing through. There is also some discoloration to the white of the body but again, nothing too bad. Pictures are a great indication of the quality and condition. Do your own research. Dont miss this chance.
