Vintage 12 Cast Iron Scottie Dog Hitching Post Door Stop ABC collar

Vintage 12 tall Cast Iron Scottie Dog Hitching Post Door Stop ABC collar. Cute and heavy Scottish Terrier Dog cast iron hitching post top with threaded spot inside to attatch to a post, not sure of size? The estate where this came from was using it as a door stop. He has “ABC” on two sides of his collar. Some visible rust, nothing rusted through, very rusty inside past the threaded area because it looks like that part was never painted. One tiny pencil tip size spot hole, which was probably how this piece was made (see photo). No damage or repairs. Not sure of age, could be 40 years old or 75 years old, not sure. Vintage SKOOG Heavy Cast Iron Boston Terrier Dog Doorstop Karl Frederick Skoog

By Karl Frederick Skoog. It shows signs of age with some paint loss, wear and some spots with surface rust, especially on the feet. The tips of his ears have what appear to be foundry flaws (see photos). Based on other examples found on the internet, the paint appears to be original. Research indicates that it was made by the Dutka Liebl Foundry of Boston, Mass. And designed by famous Swedish artist sculptor Karl Frederick Skoog. Cast in the likeness of a beloved war hero named Stubby who became the first American War Dog Hero. It measures approximately 7 tall to the top of his ear x 8 long x 2 thick at the widest point on his back. It weighs 4 pounds and 6 ounces. When appropriate, I will package items using reusable or recycled packaging materials. I try to describe my listings honestly and accurately. Vintage cast iron stalking tiger/tabby cat chippy paint door stop/shelf sitter

This vintage cast iron keen eyed hunting or stalking cat is pretty rare! There are a lot of cast cats out there but not many posed like this… About 14″long by 5″tall. He looks to be hand painted and has a rustic look to the chippy paint. He has some ware from use as can be expected with something that occasionally gets whacked with a door. He has been used as a door stop but would also look great on a shelf or in a garden as a scare tactic to keep the critters out.
