2 Virginia Metalcrafters VMC Garden Rabbit Baby Bunny Doorstop Statue Gate Stop

2 VIRGINIA METALCRAFTERS GARDEN RABBIT DOORSTOPS. I’ve also seen these rabbits described as garden statues and gate stops. The larger rabbit was listed in the VMC catalog as the “3457 Garden Rabbit Doorstop” and the smaller rabbit was listed as the “3456 Baby Bunny Doorstop”. The larger rabbit stands about 7″ tall and measures approximately 8″ long. The baby rabbit is 5 1/4″ tall and 5 3/8″ long. Both are made of cast iron (center is hollow) and they have a hand-applied “verdigris” finish. Both rabbits are marked with either the Virginia Metalcrafters name or the VMC logo. In case you’re not already familiar with Virginia Metalcrafters, they were in business for more than 100 years before they closed their doors in 2006. They were known throughout the world for their high quality metal products and for manufacturing faithful reproductions of rare pieces for Colonial Williamsburg. Today, their finely crafted items are only available on the secondary market and remain popular with collectors. Condition of these VMC rabbit doorstop is EXCELLENT. The large rabbit has a manufacturing flaw at the end of one ear (see photo) that resembles a “chip” that is covered by the verdigris finish. I don’t see any rust on these rabbits, so they didn’t spend any time outdoors. The finish has a couple spots of very minor wear. The baby rabbit still has its original price tag attached. Overall these VMC rabbit doorstops look fantastic. They would make a fine addition to any collection. Please take a close look at the many photos I’ve provided and judge condition for yourself.
