Early 1900’s Full Casting Dutch Boy Cast Iron Doorstop. An hard to find piece with original paint. Full figure casting done in two halves and joined from the back with a screw. Little Dutch boy with wooden shoes standing on a square base. Good original condition with some moderate paint loss, particularly to the face area. Measures 11 inches tall on a 3 1/2 square base. Superb details to the face & dress. Marked on the back with “#22″. An example of this doorstop can be seen in “The Doorstop Book” by John & Nancy Smith on page 194. In very good condition with some paint loss & overall wear. Measures 9 3/8 inches tall and 6 3/4 inches wide. Weighs 4.8 lbs. Antique Cast Iron Hubley Elephant Door Stop

Antique Cast Iron Door Stop. Early 1900’s very finely detailed. Color is a vibrant Red and original. I haven’t see one of these in red before. It does have some paint loss, surface ware, dirt and oxidation associated with age. I haven’t attempted to clean it. Most of the paint loss is on the tusks. The rest of the paint loss in minimal. The dimensions are approx: 12″ long x 8 1/2 ” tall x 4 wide. The weight is approximately 8 1/2 pds. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was first incorporated in 1894 in. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron, with themes that ranged from horse-drawn vehicles and different breeds of dogs, to tractors, steam shovels and guns (Smitsonian Institution, website). Hubley’s main competition in the early years was Arcade Richardson 1999, p. Early toys were known for their complexity. This is a fine example of the exquisite work and detail associated with the Hubley Manufacturing Company and would be a great addition to any collection. This is an as is sale.
