Add a touch of vintage charm to your home with this authentic cast iron doorstop in the shape of a sitting black cat. Weighing 6 pounds and measuring 9.5 inches tall, this doorstop is both functional and decorative. Crafted by B & B in Charleston ILL (that is what it says on the back) in the United States, this piece has a unique patina that has been left untouched for an added sense of history. The cast iron material ensures durability, making it a great addition to any home for years to come. An extremely high percentage of my items are VINTAGE AND RARELY NEW. Vintage items are objects made prior to 1990 and MOST have smaller flaws indicative of normal use and age. If you are a vintage glass collector, we will be listing a lot of new (vintage) art glass, including Fenton, Westmoreland and more, sporadically – as we acquire it. This vintage black cat heavy doorstop is a unique addition to any collection. Made of cast iron with an arched back and tail up, it is a sturdy and reliable door stop. The intricate details of the cat’s fur and features are impressive and make it a great conversation piece. Crafted in the United States, this door stop is not only functional but also decorative. It is perfect for those who appreciate vintage metalware and collectibles. Whether you are a collector or just looking for a unique piece to add to your home, this vintage Hubley black cat heavy doorstop is sure to impress. To confirm that this is a Hubley with 100% confidence, one would have to remove the screw holding the two halves together and look for identifying foundry marks. Unfortunately, the screw is seized and cannot be removed without damaging the piece. It appears that a prior owner unsuccessfully attempted to remove the screw as the head is slightly stripped (see photos). All indications such as paint, casting finish and fit point to Hubley as the maker. Because we cannot be certain that this is a Hubley, we have priced the cat with this in mind. It remains however that this is a very good piece that would make an great addition to a collection or alone on a shelf as a display piece. It would also work quite well as a doorstop. Height = 10 5/8 inches. Width = 7 1/2 inches.

HILTON HEAD HUMANE (HHH). VINTAGE/ANTIQUE CAST IRON BLACK GUARD CAT. SITTING ON TRAPEZOID BASE. DESCRIPTION : An impressive sitting, green/gold eyed, watchful, black cat perched atop a trapezoid base made of cast iron and very appropriate as a door stop weighing in at approximately 12 pounds 6 ounces is offered here. Although this piece does not have visible markings it has many of the characteristics of a Hubley design doorstop. There are some number-like markings at the center top of the piece but they are very hard to discern There is also a round screw head-like mark at the level of what might be a neck bauble. The cat has golden colored eyes that have a green tint. This piece, in our opinion, is in excellent condition with minimal signs of wear. We received and have listed a large collection of vintage/antique cast iron doorstops from a valued collector’s estate; be sure to check out our store to see them all. Our items have been donated to our thrift store and we usually do not have first hand knowledge of the item. We are also staffed by volunteers who are probably not expert in the item listed.
