It has a very old iron surface and looks like it has been exposed to the elements for many years. If you look closely on one side you can see a feint white line. The bottom and inside are smooth, seams fit tightly, standard (not Philips) screw (see last photo) holds it together at the back. The cat is in a tan color. We received a collection of cast iron door stops, please see our. Our items have been donated to our thrift store and we usually do not have first hand knowledge of the item. We are also staffed by volunteers who are probably not expert in the item listed. The Hilton Head Humane Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization funded entirely by private donations, bequests, membership dues and fund raising. After searching online I was unable to find another example of this Squirrel Doorstop anywhere! The brown, white and black painted surface you see on this Doorstop is guaranteed to be original. There are some small removable white paint specks to the surface, but there are no other problems or any restorations. On the back you can see a maker’s mark which is difficult to read. The door stop has the “C” Copy wright symbol and the “Fish” for Ann Fish on the front I and H are visible and the F and S barely visible because of the rust. It has the #250 etched on the back. Since this is a vintage item, there is definitely signs of age/wear/patina/rust. The piece still has some colored but very weathered. Please view all photos before biding.
