Antique cast iron dog statue doorstop Golden Retriever Portuguese Water dog look

Spectacular antique vintage cast iron dog statue figurine that is definitely heavy enough to be a doorstop. It will weigh just under 7lbs. There are no markings on this piece, and there is some normal surface wear and markings. It is 5 3/4 tall and just has a great look. Not your typical breed for a cast iron piece either. To me it looks most like a Portuguese Water dog, but also resembles a Golden Retriever or possibly a Poodle dog. Most of my items are used, vintage or antique and come directly from estate auctions. Vintage Cast Iron Hubley Standing Wire Fox Terrier Doorstop Bookend Figurine

This heavy, full-bodied doorstop or bookend was probably made in the 1930’s and has its magnificent, original paint with a sandy-brown, black and white coat, very expressive eyes, along with a vivid red collar and red mouth. The mold detail is very crisp, and the age-crackling of the paint actually accentuates the illusion of a wire-haired coat. This adorable collectible is unmarked, but is in excellent, vintage condition with spots of flaking and chipping paint (most visible on one of his legs), and characteristic wear including tiny areas of rust. There is no damage to the metal, no cracks or breaks, but this little pup does have just-visible mold seams. This sturdy little dog is about 5″ tall, 6″ long and 2-1/2 wide. Check out all 12 photos! This particular doorstop was produced by both National Foundry, (#89) and Albany Foundry, (#94). On the base of the back. In very good to excellent all original condition with good color.
