Early 1900’s Full Casting Dutch Boy Cast Iron Doorstop. An hard to find piece with original paint. Full figure casting done in two halves and joined from the back with a screw. Little Dutch boy with wooden shoes standing on a square base. Good original condition with some moderate paint loss, particularly to the face area. Measures 11 inches tall on a 3 1/2 square base. This antique advertising cast iron doorstop or toy measures about 8″ x 7″. Overall in fine antique condition. Paint looks to be original. There is wear to paint. Looks like the iron stick that the dutch girl is holding could be missing something on the top of it. Please see photos for details. Item is made with a hole on either end. The dutch girl’s arms are jointed — connected at the shoulder. The arms are movable. Has 2 wheels on either end. Rare piece of early advertising. A really nice example of the Dutch Boy full figure doorstop. As found in Smith’s Doorstop book on page 216. 11″ by 3 1/2″. Weighs just under 7 pounds. In very good condition especially the face which is normally found chipped. A few paint nicks and some wear to base. Guaranteed all original paint. Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Dutch Girl Holding Apple
Offered for sale is a beautiful Cast Iron doorstop of a Dutch girl holding an apple. I do not know who the maker was as there are no markings. As you can see by the pictures, she is very old. The paint appears to be original. The paint is chipped in many places. It appears that something was attached to the back and it left a white spot. The doorstop is heavy and weighs about 6.5 lbs. She measures about 6 1/2″ tall and 4″ wide. Please view the pictures to judge condition. I included pictures of front, back, both sides, top and bottom.
