Antique Albany Foundry #148 “Tulips” Cast Iron Doorstop. Early Albany piece circa 1870’s marked on the back. An early doorstop, this one dates back to the 1870’s. This marked on the back on the left side base with the Albany Foundry marks although they are hard to make out and on the right side base with the number 148 which is a bit easier to see. In very good condition with original paint. Some wear to the high spots on the flowers. One small touchup to the black base. Base has some duct tape as a pad. Measures 8 1/2 inches tall by 7 1/16 inches wide. Weighs 5.1 lbs.

RARE Original Antique ALBANY FOUNDRY or HUBLEY CAST IRON Sitting BLACK CAT Doorstop Statue. 7″ Tall x 3 1/2″ on base. Heavy and weighs in at approx. 9 LBS 7 OZ. Vintage Used Condition-Excellent Condition. Founded by John E. Hubley in 1894 to manufacture equipment and accessories for electric trains. From day one, John Hubley emphasized toy and bank manufacturing. The first Hubley toys appeared in 1909 and were made of cast-iron Anything Hubley ever made was always made in Cast Iron. Today, Hubley is most known for their Cast Iron Toys. Hubley’s Marking Style. Their Numbers on back were usually in. Engraved in the back of the Doorstop. The earliest (original) creations were marked this way, and then later on they added “made in USA”.
