Vintage Antique Cast Iron Greyhound – Borzoi – Russian Wolf Hound Dog Doorstop or Statue. 15 1/2 ” L x 3 3/8 ” W x 9 5/8 H. Weight is 6 lbs 6 oz. See pictures for condition which is great but paint/coating has worn through the years leaving it very Vintage looking. Hese dogs specialize in pursuing prey, keeping it in sight, and overpowering it by their great speed and agility. They must be able to detect motion quickly, so they have keen vision. Sighthounds must be able to capture fast, agile prey such as. So they have a very flexible back and long legs for a long stride, a deep chest to support an unusually (compared to other dogs) large heart, very efficient lungs for both. Antique vintage Art Deco cast iron Greyhound or Whippet Dog bookends doorstops

Stunning pair of Art Deco cast iron Greyhound Dogs or Whippet Dogs that can be used as bookends or doorstops. They are not marked. They are very heavy pieces and are nicely detailed with lovely workmanship and still have traces of original paint. The are 5 14/” tall and are 7 3/4″ wide and are 1 deep. They each have a small irregular bump of cast iron on one bottom corner They are heavy and will weigh just under 6lbs. Most of my items are used, vintage or antique and come directly from estate auctions. Good condition for its age. The pictures will show the patina on the dog looks to be the original paint. It has not been repainted. Also, the rarity of this dog is the colar with a ring for the leash. 8 inches in height and 12 inches straight from nose to tail, measuring down the back from nose to tail is about 15 inches. Rare Pair ANTIQUE CAST IRON CHAMPION GREYHOUND Whippet Dog Doorstop Andirons. Offered for sale is this great pair of antique cast iron greyhounds. They are Victorian, the greyhounds are both champions of England’s coursing Waterloo Cup – Colonel North’s Fullerton (who won in 1889, 1890, 1891, and 1892) and Fearless Footsteps (who won in 1900 and 1901). I think they were intended to be doorstops or andiron guards. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. SIZE: They are just over 10.25 inhces long, and are approximately 8 inches tall. They weigh approximately three and a half pounds each. CONDITION: There is wear to the paint and some corrosion most notably on the bottoms. Please see the close up pictures. MARKS: There are no maker’s marks, but one is titled “COL NORTHS FULLERTON” and the other “FEARLESS FOOTSTEPS” as shown. L photos below can be enlarged by clicking on them.
