HEAVY over 8 pounds! Vintage Cast Iron Cherub Doorstop. This is an incredibly impressive piece. It is about 16.5 inches tall and approximately 8 inches wide. Vintage Black Cat Heavy Doorstop Cast Iron Arched Back Tail Up

This vintage black cat heavy doorstop is a unique addition to any collection. Made of cast iron with an arched back and tail up, it is a sturdy and reliable door stop. Whether you are a collector or just looking for a unique piece to add to your home, this vintage Hubley black cat heavy doorstop is sure to impress. To confirm that this is a Hubley with 100% confidence, one would have to remove the screw holding the two halves together and look for identifying foundry marks. Unfortunately, the screw is seized and cannot be removed without damaging the piece. It appears that a prior owner unsuccessfully attempted to remove the screw as the head is slightly stripped (see photos). All indications such as paint, casting finish and fit point to Hubley as the maker. Because we cannot be certain that this is a Hubley, we have priced the cat with this in mind. It remains however that this is a very good piece that would make an great addition to a collection or alone on a shelf as a display piece. It would also work quite well as a doorstop. Height = 10 5/8 inches. Width = 7 1/2 inches.

For Your Antique Cast Iron Doorstop Collection-SailShip21212. The doorstop has two feet on which it stands and a central stop which is what would stop the door in its place. The back also has two short prongs at mid height, which extend outwards and are probably to ensure the doorstop does not touch the door. Very nice antique doorstop, marked No 205 on the back, which is large and heavy. This is a nice size piece and weighs over 5 pounds. Please view photos as they are part and parcel of the description. Date: Early to mid 20th century. Origin: Uncertain but most likely the USA. Size: Measures 10 1/2″ in width and is 11″ high. The doorstop weighs slightly over 5 pounds. Marks: Stamped on the back “NO 205″. Distinguishing Characteristics – Most Interesting About The Piece: This is definitely a nice antique doorstop. It weighs over 5 pounds and has most of its original paint. Condition: This doorstop is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. It has some minor losses to the original paint and minor rust spots on the back and bottom, which can be seen in the photos. Please see photo to appreciate the beauty and condition of the doorstop. Featuring a molded frog resting on his haunches, detail is simple yet recognizable. Weighing about five pounds, this held open the Florida room door at my Grandmother’s home and date to the 1920s. Condition is great with no chips, cracks, or damage other than paint rubbing and wear – does not detract.
