Rare Large 12 Antique vtg Life Size Cast Iron White Enamel RABBIT Doorstop 14#
Wonderful, large and heavy life-size white rabbit doorstop. Not quite like any of the other rabbit doorstops we could find online. Look at the bottom, where it has that factory-made hole. Also the surface is a backed on enamel, glossy like porcelain. It is not paint on the surface. You can see the white enamel inside where it’s hollow. There are no screws holding it together. Exceptional and RARE Antique Sleeping Cast Iron Black Napping Cat life size life like Doorstop. Excellent condition, well preserved! Approximate dimensions are 5″ Tall 16 ” wide, 10 ¼ long, appx 25 pounds. Little signs of use as doorstop, small white paint mark on side where she got nicked by door. Circa early 1900’s, less than 1000 were produced by Albany and National. It has been said that less than 80 are still in circulation. All were taken by the war efforts. Painted to look like a Siamese Cat, measures approx 14 x 11 inches. Some light rust underside of cat, some minor wear and tear to paint, overall looks and displays nicely. This may be from the Albany Foundry Van Rensselaer Island near Albany NY era 1935, you make the decision. Great older piece, nice casting, a great addition to your cast iron collection.
