I RECENTLY ACQUIRED A SMALL ESTATE COLLECTION OF ITEMS FROM THE MID 1800-S UP TO ABOUT 1950. THIS WONDERFUL FIND WAS AMONG THE TREASURES FOUND! IT IS A 1930’S EAR HUBLEY CAST IRON DOORSTOP. IT IS UN-MARKED, HUBLEY DID NOT MARK CAST IRON UNTIL THE 1940’S. IT MEASURES ABOUT 6 3/8″ X 4 7/8″ AND IS A SITTING BLACK SCOTTIE DOG WITH DEEP EXPRESSIVE EYES, A SHINY COAT, RED COLLAR & MOUTH! THE MOLD MARKS ARE VISIBLE DOWN HIS BACK, THE LEFT SIDE OF HIS FACE AND LEFT PAW. IT RETAILS MOST ALL OF HIS ORIGINAL BLACK & RED PAINT. Unusual Antique Scotty Scottie Dog Cast Iron Doorstop Boot Scraper

You don’t see many like this one. This Scottie dog heavy cast iron piece has in on a mounting plate and is approx. 7 inches tall, 7.5 wide and 3.75 deep at deepest point. It has some paint wear, more on one side than the other, rust, oxidation, white paint spots, I think, and other wear typical for the age, but overall good condition. The paint on the Scotty looks layered on and to me is designed to give depth–almost like a thin plaster appearance of layers. The side that has the most wear appears to be rust spots with no paint visible on those spots. Weighs almost 4 pounds. Please use all of the pictures as part of the “as is” description. I assume this was left outside at some point by prior owner(s); thus, the condition but frankly it looks like it wasn’t that long because there is still a lot of what I think is original paint on the piece but I cannot be certain of that either. I’m not an expert on boot scrapers or metal per se so I welcome questions and comments. I don’t handle him a lot so that I don’t damage the exterior finish.
