Antique Cast Iron Black Sleeping Cat Statue Doorstop Southampton PA Halloween. What an Awesome and hard to find item! Especially in great condition like this. Not a stock photo. This piece was found in a barn in Doylestown, Pa. Was found in dry place. Overall very good condition. Some edge wear from storage and age. No paint on this model. Very heavy at 20lbs. The markings say Southampton, PA “1853”. But previous auctions – as well as a Doorstop book by John & Nancy smith – have declared this an early 1900s Hubley design. Even without Hubley markings. Ask any and all questions. Here is a scarce antique original cast iron Sleeping Cat doorstop by Hubley, in as found condition. Offered as found, with age associated wear to old painted finish, as pictured. Antique Cast Iron Sleeping Cat Doorstop Circa Early 1900’s By Hubley

This adorable cast iron sleeping cat with mat weighs approximately 20 pounds and measures 12″x10″. These do not come up often, but it is my understanding that these were made in the early 1900s by Hubley, although it is not signed there’s many examples of these made by Hubley that were not signed according to John and Nancy Smith. An Encyclopedia of Doorstop Collecting with Price Guide. Authors John and Nancy Smith. John and Nancy Smith whom are widely recognized authorities on doorstops and figural cast iron. They have been avid collectors for over forty years and they are well known dealers specializing in Cast Iron, Folk Art, and Country Americana. Included in their collection of figural cast iron are doorstops, doorknockers, banks, bookends, and lawn sprinklers.

Antique RedSleeping Fox Cast Iron Made From Civil War Cannon Ball Doorstop. Size: 6.75″long×4″wide×1.75deep. Antique shop find in Southern Virginia. Antique shop owner told me that this fox was made from an old civil war cannon ball. This was information told to him by pervious owner. I have no information backing up this statement. Fox looks like it was repainted at some point. Fox weighs 4 lbs unpacked. There is some chipping red color-see pictures. No cracks or breaks. Antique vintage Sleeping CAT DOORSTOP Painted Bronze Art Deco Original c1900s

Old and original Art Deco Bronze Sleeping Cat Doorstop, circa late 1800s or early 1900s. The gold paint is old and has a mellow patina. We are not sure if the gold is original or a very old repaint. It appears there is white paint under the gold, which could be a primer, or it could be the original paint, we are not sure. Given that it is made of bronze, it may not have been painted originally. The metal does not stick to a magnet. There is a scratch on the bottom that shows a copper color. The doorstop is 9-1/2″ long x 6″ wide x 3-1/2 tall and is heavy. It weighs about 7 pounds.

This is a rare sleeping cat doorstop. This kitty has a nice ribbon collar and was made by the National Foundry. It is a hollow form doorstop that has nice aged patina. Paint is gone, but it has remnants of being painted black in years past. I will allow the new owner to decide if they want to repaint or not. It measures 9 1/2″ x 6″ x 3.25 and weighs.
