This stunning vintage solid cast iron bookend is Hubley’s model #407, which is the small (although not the smallest paperweight version) sized Fox Terrier model from the 1920’s to 1930’s. This profile measures approximately 6 3/4″ long by 4 3/4″ high by 3 1/4 deep, and it weighs about 4 pounds! With this heavy weight it can also double as a doorstop or even a paperweight albeit a heavy one! It has excellent detailed workmanship from the tip of his nose to his toes. Even the flowing “fur” is three-dimensional! The hand painted red collar, eyes, ears, pink tongue and fur have a beautiful patina commensurate with age. And what a sweet little face! There are no cracks or other structural damage. The original factory paint is in wonderful vibrant condition with small chips (typical with this age of cast iron collectibles) as seen in the photos. This is the rarely seen bookend model and is in beautiful condition. It is a must have for any cast iron or doorstop collector, and dog lovers too! Antique Hubley Cast Iron Doorstop Boston Terrier Puppy Dog Solid 4 1/2 Tall
This is the small solid doorstop. It measures about 5 3/4″ long, by 4 1/2″ tall to the top of the head. It weighs about 3.95 pounds. The condition is about good. There are no chips, cracks, breaks or hairlines to the cast iron. The paint is all original, with much wear, loss and rust. A very presentable old doorstop. I believe this is one of the harder dogs to find. The photos are an integral part of my description. They will give an accurate representation, and best tell the story.
