Gorgeous ANTIQUE BRADLEY HUBBARD LG CAST IRON PARROT RING ART STATUE SCULPTURE DOORSTOP. Guaranteed old and original with original paint on both sides. United States (Meriden, CT). Wear consistent with age and use. Overall the company patented 238 designs and mechanical devices. Bradley and Hubbard started out producing clocks, during the Civil War when. Markets opened west of the Mississippi. Throughout the 1850s and 1860s they added other lines of household. Goods including sewing machines, call bells and match safes. In 1859, with the discovery of oil in Titusville, Pennsylvania, B&H began producing kerosene burning lamps. Which eventually replaced whale oil burning lamps. By the 1890s B&H had showrooms in New York, Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago. Sears and Roebuck and Montgomery Ward. In the 1910s, 1920s and 1930s they produced a line of outstanding bronzed or polychromed cast iron bookends and doorstops from molten iron poured into sand molds. A large vintage or antique cast iron rabbit doorstop. The rabbit is approximately 11 inches tall and weighs a substantial 11 pounds. It has an opening on its back to be used as a bank and may have had 2 screws for opening the bank that have been painted over (see the flat circular areas at the nose and tail). Antique Cast Iron Black Sleeping Cat Statue Doorstop Southampton PA Halloween. What an Awesome and hard to find item! Especially in great condition like this. Not a stock photo. This piece was found in a barn in Doylestown, Pa. Was found in dry place. Overall very good condition. Some edge wear from storage and age. No paint on this model. Very heavy at 20lbs. The markings say Southampton, PA “1853”. But previous auctions – as well as a Doorstop book by John & Nancy smith – have declared this an early 1900s Hubley design. Even without Hubley markings. Ask any and all questions.
