For sale is a pair of antique Cast Iron Flower Basket Bookends made by Bradley and Hubbard. Each one is marked on the back with the “B & H” logo. Measure 4 1/4″ tall x 5 ” wide x slightly more than 3 deep. Each weighs 3 lbs. The design is a pretty woven basket that contains multicolored flowers with a green drape beneath. The cast iron and basket are an aged gold patina. There are no chips, cracks, or dents. There is some wear of the color on the large front flower and some minor stains on the lower left of one bookend. I didn’t attempt to remove it. I have here a super pair of lion rampant door stops, door porters or perhaps to decorate the fireside or garden patio if preferred. They are black cast iron and measure about 14 inches high with the bases measuring approx 10 by 3 inches and they do look impressive. I got these as a pair but I think they may well be of differing dates. The one facing towards the left is more finely cast which you can see in the pics and it is heavier at approx 6.2 kgs. My feeling is this is older probably late Victorian. The other facing right is less finely cast and a bit lighter at approx 5.6 kgs and tips slightly outwards as you can see in the back to back pic. I think therefor this one is more likely later in date although still of some age. Condition wise they are pretty good I would say, there are some areas of light rusting. Please refer to the pics which give the best description. Altogether they are highly decorative and make great display interior design items and it is nice to have a pair.
