Antique Architectural Salvage Americana Cast Iron Eagle Flagpole Holder Doorstop
Antique cast iron or perhaps cast brass flagpole mount, circa early 1900s or so. Made to mount on the side / ledge of a building and hold a flag pole. Has four mounting holes on the bottom. Original wing nuts on back once held a rear bracket to secure the pole, but that piece is no longer present. Wing nuts are stiff but still turn. Would also work well as a door stop. Measures approximately 11″ wide x 7-1/4″ tall x 5-1/2 deep at the bottom. The eagle itself is approximately 4-1/2″ tall x 5″ wide at the wings. Weighs approximately 7 pounds, 5 ounces. Edwardian 1912 Brass & Cast Iron Architectural Design Door Porter Stop
Lovely original Edwardian Door Porter stop, great architectural design and all original patina and as shown the Rd mark of 604012 on the cast iron back which shows it was made in 1912, so just over 100 years old, it also says 8lb, it measures 11.5″ high and 4.5″ wide and 2.25 deep, the handle is canted forward for ease of use (as original) these are quite rare these days as so many were used (melted down) for the WW1 war effort, please view my other interesting items, thanks. Doesn’t get more Art Deco than this. I had a matched pair of these. It is a rarely seen piece. Cast iron by Bradley Hubbard, their customary logo on the back. Paint is original, showing some general age-related wear. Base has areas of rust so the piece clearly got it’s bottom wet. It sits flat and stable. 7 1/2 inches tall; 4 1/2 inches wide; 2 5/8 inches deep. Weighs 4 1/4 pounds. Perfect gift for the Bradley Hubbard or Art Deco collector, or someone who works in the Chrysler Building. I SPECIALIZE IN ANTIQUE BOOKENDS AND DECORATIVE PIECES.
