Antique Architectural Cast Iron Bird Door Stop Figural Ornate Decor Pigeon Dove

A vintage cast iron bird. Not sure of the age or what this was used for, perhaps a door stop or other architectural piece. Looks like the base is currently held on with a bolt, not sure if that was original. Stands about 4-1/2 inches tall and 7 long. This is a superb and original cast iron door stop with the rounded sheep to the base of which. During our research we have been informed it certainly dates from the 19th century. Of an english origin. Cat iron with the original black finish. To the base: a quite wonderful rounded sheep with its superb detailing. Cast iron handle with the stem attached to the sheep and the handle. It has an overall height o. Max overall size of the rounded sheep of about 7 x 2.75inches. Condition: Considering the age, the overall condition is excellent and is not subject to any major blemishes except. Due to age: areas of loss of colour to the doorstop. All as per pictures. This is a superb 19thc architectural gothic cast iron winged gargoyle doorstop. Excellent attention to detail to this gothic doorstop. Wonderful detail to this winged gargoyle with forked tail winding around tree trunk. Lettering impressed to back of doorstop. Dimensions: 10.75″ height x 6″ width at base x 2 depth at base.
