Pair of generously proportioned , painted cast iron door stop porter mantle lions, seated with front paws resting on a scrolled element, haunches supported on a shaped plinth with decorative, raised scrollwork on the front. This pose is used in British and other heraldic devices and is technically called “A “lion sejant erect”, with the lion seated on its haunches, but with its body erect and both forepaws raised in the “rampant” position (this is sometimes termed “sejant-rampant). 70 pounds original paint in green red undercoat.
