Hubley Mfg Foundry Cast Iron Gladiolus Flower Basket Doorstop Original Paint. Doorstop from a local estate here in Central Virginia. The “Gladiolus” / No. 489 doorstop was one of the many “flower garden” designs produced by the Lancaster, PA foundry during the 1920’s / 1930’s. The piece is well executed with crisp mold and nice embossed detail to the floral spray with central gladiolus arrangement. The original hand painted surface is in good condition with the pictured oxidation and edge wear (no repainting or touch up has been done). The piece measures 10 ¼” high, 8 ¼” wide and 3 deep at the triangular base. The interior lower foot bears the “489” production mark. Other than the noted paint wear the piece has no damage.
