Super Rare – The Blue Boy Doorstop by Bradley &Hubbard INCREDIBLE original PAINT. WOW – Antique The Blue Boy Stamped B&H – ORIGINAL PAINT. This is part of an incredible doorstop collection. The collector only has incredible pieces in amazing quality. The price reflects the rarity and condition of the piece. There is not another known piece in this condition. This is a rare find for anyone’s collection. WHO IS THE BLUE BOY? – Originally c1770 – a painting by Thomas Gainsborough and currently hangs in the Huntington Art Gallery in California. Was the a portrait done of Jonathan Buttall (who originally owned the painting) or possibly just Gainsborough’s nephew in costume? Regardless, this famous paintaing has been done over and over – and in an amazing doorstop by Bradley and Hubbard. An excellent condition cast iron doorstop. The doorstop is cast in the form of The Blue Boy. The Blue Boy is all that you thought with blue dress / white collar. The Blue Boy has some green foliage background by his feet. The base is brown/copper/black to green – sculpted front. The Blue Boy’s face is tan/cream with incredible detail even with Red Lips, black eyes and eyebrows. The back of the piece is painted in green with thousands of dimples. The B&H stamp is located center bottom on the back. The bottom of the piece is covered in felt, the felt is not perfect and has some wear due to its age. Measures 8 1/2″ in height with the base measuring 5″ by 3 1/4. The piece weighs about 3-4 pounds. Has the “B&H” stamped on the back. One of the prized pieces in the collection due to its condition (there are more to come) Condition. This doorstop is in excellent incredible condition with no breaks or repairs. It retains original paint and coloring – incredible color. The colors are bright, vivid, look near perfection on the front… The back is black with some minor wear/rust as is the bottom – expected for something of this age.
