Huge American cast iron LION art statue / sculpture / doorstop, weighing in at 18 pounds and in excellent aged condition with normal wear as shown. These very rare cast iron lions, upon request, were hand poured with an additional 6 pounds of iron for the purpose of holding back very heavy doors. These are exceedingly rare and were specially ordered. It is extremely heavy, thick, strong and well made. Wonderful cast iron artistic detailing. 6″ Tall x 9″ Long. All edges are smooth with clean lines at the seams. The paint is original and some usual nicks and chips from indoor house use are present but no breaks or cracks or repainting of any kind. Made in the USA is marked on the underside. Antique 5 pound Cast Iron Cat Doorstop or Bookend Original Finish

Cat Doorstop or Bookend. Measures 6″ high with a base measurement of 2.50″ x 2.50. This was cast as one piece without seams or screws. The details are excellent. Portions of its original paint finish has worn away and other portions of the original paint is faded. You can still see the green eyes, a red lip and white on the chest, ears and parts of the legs. The underside shows a thin layer of green felt. The right ear shows a small chip and the flat backside shows a rough finish. I could find no makers marks. Heavy enough (five pounds) to be used as a bookend or doorstop. I’ve attached photos for you to further evaluate condition and authenticity. Please consider these photos as part of my overall condition observations and if more photos are needed let me know and Ill gladly send them your way. I also invite questions and reply the same day.
