Early 20th Century Cast Iron Bulldog Door Stop

Antique figural cast iron door stop. This piece takes the form of a bulldog in all its tough glory. It features high levels of detail in regards to the face and muscle tone, and sits on a small platform. It is believed to have been painted at one point in time, but the majority of this has been lost to time, save for the eyes. Exhibits minor signs of wear including paint loss and patina. 10.25″ W x 2.5″ D x 7.75 H Please refer to photos regarding condition. Antique cast iron squirrel eating a nut figure 8″ tall 6″ at widest point, weighs 7 lbs 10 ozs.. Does have a makers mark on the bottom side that I, m unable to identify. Have not see another exactly like this squirrel.

Vintage Cast Iron Lighthouse Door Stop 18 Candle Holder Lantern

This has a great look to it and has been kept in good vintage condition. There may be some scratching or surface wear from age which is to be expected. There is some spotting or rusting as you can see. It measures roughly 18 tall. Please see all photos for details and feel free to ask any questions. Please keep in mind that the majority of the items in my store are used, vintage or antique. I try to list every item accurately and to the best of my ability including any damage that I may find. Hubley Cast Iron Bathing Beauties Anne Fish Cast Iron Doorstop

Anne Harriet Fish (1890 – 1964). Anne Harriet Fish (Sefton – Married name) was born in Bristol, England. She worked in oil & watercolors. After coning to New York City, she did illustrations for “Vanity Fair” and “Vogue” including the cover for “Vanity Fair” in April, 1917. During World War I, “Porcelain Doll Heads” were unattainable from Germany. So, Fulper, a Flemington, NJ company, established a new product line: “Porcelain Doll Heads”. Fulper was established in 1909 and made stoneware clay pottery. However, after the War, the market for Porcelain Doll Heads collapsed and Fulper had to resort to “ceramic novelties” made from porcelain. They hired Anne Harriet Fish (Sefton) to do some design work for them in the 1920’s. Her drawings sell in the low hundreds of dollar now. Note in one of her drawings shown here: There is a strong similarity with this drawing and her “BATHING GIRLS” Doorstop she designed for Hubley. She designed Seven Doorstops for Hubley: # 269 – The TIGER #249 – The MESSENGER BOY # 268 – The PALOR MAID #250 – BATHING GIRLS # 270 – CHARLESTON DANCERS # 222 – SMALL FOOTMEN # 248 – LARGE FOOTMEN. Probably because of her experience in Ceramics, all her doostops had a high gloss to them. On a lot of her existing doorstops, this finish has worn off.
