Very nice hard to find Hubley white with gray markings cast iron horse with blue ribbon tail statue, doorstop. This statue has normal paint wear (please see pictures) but in great condition, no breaks or other damage. Measures 9.5″ long x 7 7/8″ tall x 3 5/8 wide at rear and weighs 4 lbs. I RECENTLY ACQUIRED A SMALL ESTATE COLLECTION OF MID 1800’S UP TO ABOUT 1950 JEWELRY, HOUSEHOLD AND ASSORTED ITEMS. HUBLEY CAST IRON FROM THIS PERIOD WERE NOT MARKED AND INCLUDED A WIDE RANGE OF SUBJECTS. THIS WONDERFUL SITTING DOORSTOP IS I BELIEVE A WIRE FOX TERRIER, MEASURING APPROXIMATELY 5 3/4″ X 4 3/4″ HIGH. I TOOK TWO SETS OF PHOTOS, THE FIRST IS WITHOUT A FLASH AND IS MORE ACCURATE IN COLOR. IT IS THE ORIGINAL PAINT, IS OFF WHITE WITH BROWN SHADING, DEEP SET EYES AND A RED COLLAR! MOLD MARKS ARE VISIBLE ON HIS BACK, FACE AND EXTENDED LEG. WHAT AN EXPRESSIVE LOOK, HE DOES HAVE SOME CHIPPING AND NORMAL WEAR. THERE ARE DRIPS OF OFF WHITE PAINT DOWN HIS BACK, PERHAPS SOMEONE WAS PAINTING THE WALLS AND NOT TOO CAREFUL! DOES NOT DETRACT FROM THIS AMAZING FIND! This stunning vintage cast iron doorstop is Hubley’s model #381, which is the very rare larger sized front-facing Fox Terrier model from the 1920’s to 1930’s. The extra large profile measures approximately 12″ long by 10″ high by 4 deep, and it weighs about 9 pounds! It has excellent detailed workmanship from the tip of his nose to his toes. Even the fur is three-dimensional! The hand painted eyes, ears and fur have a beautiful patina commensurate with age. There are no cracks or other structural damage. The original factory paint is in wonderful condition with small chips (typical with this age of cast iron collectibles) as seen in the photos. This rarely seen size and orientation is a must have for any cast iron or doorstop collector, and dog lovers too!
