Antique 1930s HUBLEY Wire Hair Fox Terrier Airedale Dog Door Stop-RARE

Here we have a rare vintage cast iron doorstop, which is an antique 1930s HUBLEY Wire Hair Fox Terrier Airedale Dog Door Stop. A heavy cast iron decorative door stop made by Hubley, probably sometime circa early 1930’s. It is cast to depict a terrier in shades of tan, brown and black. Shows paint wear and nice patina consistent with age. In very good structural shape, very solid and sturdy. Stands 8-1/2″ tall and 8″ long and 4 wide. Weighs about 5.12 pounds without packaging. This is a hard to find doorstop and in great condition. Please see photos for item condition. Smoke free and pet free home. Antique Hubley Cast Iron Airedale Doorstop in Extraordinary Condition

This is an astounding Hubley antique cast iron doorstop specimen. This is Hubley #279 circa 1910s-1920s which depending on paint is called a Fox Terrier or an Airedale. This is the Airedale. It stands 8.5 inches high and 9.5 wide. What makes this an exceptional Hubley specimen is the incredible condition the original paint job is in. While there is minor chipping from the nose and some strike marks on the back legs where it would have held a door open, it’s paint job is flay and applied thickly and is pretty much intact. The piece has a smooth surface. It is two pieces attached tightly together by a screw. The slotted screw is well hidden with some spackle and paint I have included a picture of the screw as the last image which you can slightly make out. There are the desirable subtle hand file marks verses coarser marks that would be made by machine in a reproduction. It is a Hubley collectors dream. This heavy cast iron decorative door stop believed to be crafted by Hubley in Pennsylvania, USA probably sometime circa early 1930’s. It is cast to depict a terrier in shades of white, brown and black. There is some specks of loss to original paint as can be seen in the photos. Even the tiny white “twinkle” is present in both eyes.
