Antique Albany Foundry #148 “Tulips” Cast Iron Doorstop. Early Albany piece circa 1870’s marked on the back. An early doorstop, this one dates back to the 1870’s. This marked on the back on the left side base with the Albany Foundry marks although they are hard to make out and on the right side base with the number 148 which is a bit easier to see. In very good condition with original paint. Some wear to the high spots on the flowers. One small touchup to the black base. Base has some duct tape as a pad. Measures 8 1/2 inches tall by 7 1/16 inches wide. Weighs 5.1 lbs.

Antique Cast Iron Black Sleeping Cat Statue Doorstop Southampton PA Halloween. What an Awesome and hard to find item! Especially in great condition like this. Not a stock photo. This piece was found in a barn in Doylestown, Pa. Was found in dry place. Overall very good condition. Some edge wear from storage and age. No paint on this model. Very heavy at 20lbs. The markings say Southampton, PA “1853”. But previous auctions – as well as a Doorstop book by John & Nancy smith – have declared this an early 1900s Hubley design. Even without Hubley markings. Ask any and all questions. These fine turn-of-the (20th)-century Matching Cast Iron doorstops each feature a parrot or cockatoo surrounded by rococo scrollwork and a ring handle top. The condition is exceptional used, with mostly extant original paint and verdigris highlights among the cast iron scrollwork. Both impressed with the numbers “145” on verso. Mostly original paint remains with minor losses. Dimensions ea: 9.25 in. H x 5 in. W x 1-7/8 in. Weight, unpacked, pair: 4 lbs.

You are looking at a RARE vintage cast iron Boston Terrier doorstop. The brown paint is what I would say is generally what you see from a doorstop this old with chips and missing paint. But no cracks, and no signs of repair. Most of this style doorstops are colored black. As this one is a rarer brown. The door stop is two pieces of cast iron metal with the original straight head screw. It’s in the shape of a Boston Terrier with its head turned to the LEFT. Which in itself is a rarity. As 97% of these same style doorstops are the head turned to the right. The piece measures 9 3/4 inches tall by 9 3/4 inches long. It’s almost 9 lbs. Original paint, not a reproduction, touched up or altered in anyway. Most people are listing these left facing stops as a Hubley. With extensive research on this item I have found out that Hubley had never made a left facing bulldog doorstop. This Information came directly from Hubley’s identification guide book. Hubley never cast a identification mark or number on any of these dog stops as it was said that it would take away from the look of the figure. Not much more to say about this rarer piece except it would look great in your collection as something different and unique.
