Antique Original Hubley Solid Cast Iron Fox Terrier Dog Bookend Doorstop, Small

This stunning vintage solid cast iron bookend is Hubley’s model #407, which is the small (although not the smallest paperweight version) sized Fox Terrier model from the 1920’s to 1930’s. This profile measures approximately 6 3/4″ long by 4 3/4″ high by 3 1/4 deep, and it weighs about 4 pounds! With this heavy weight it can also double as a doorstop or even a paperweight albeit a heavy one! It has excellent detailed workmanship from the tip of his nose to his toes. Even the flowing “fur” is three-dimensional! The hand painted red collar, eyes, ears, pink tongue and fur have a beautiful patina commensurate with age. And what a sweet little face! There are no cracks or other structural damage. The original factory paint is in wonderful vibrant condition with small chips (typical with this age of cast iron collectibles) as seen in the photos. This is the rarely seen bookend model and is in beautiful condition. It is a must have for any cast iron or doorstop collector, and dog lovers too! A great looking, hard to find duck decoy doorstop. It was made by the Wildfowler Decoy Company in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. It is in original paint. It is missing the glass eyes. The bill has been broken and repaired. A very nice, early cast iron duck from this company. It is 5 1/4 inches long and 5 1/2 inches tall. Could be used as a door stopper or bookend.
