Truly a Classic, Hubley’s Left Facing Boston Terrier or Bulldog Cast Iron Door Stop. Approx: 9.75″ H x 9.5″ L, 6.5 lbs. Authentic from Extensive Cast Iron Collector’s Treasured Stock. One of Hubley’s most iconic Stops and cast iron productions. The left facing ones like this are quite a bit rarer, maybe 1/10 are facing left. This cute little guy has a few blips and dings to paint but still a great piece with vintage look. We noticed a small (maybe 1/8″ x 1/4″) production hole in back of dog’s neck, but it does not effect the appeal of item. We only noticed it while taking pics as it blends in with paint misses, its just above shoulder near center (see last picture in gallery). This is a hollow core cast iron doorstop, but still heavy at roughly 6.5 lbs. We are pricing far below most of this style listed. We are not sure of the exact age, but this appears to be an earlier one from Hubley. This was owned by a very high end and selective cast iron (and other items) collector with some of his pieces worth into the several thousands. If the metal looks a little rough or the paint is too good to be true, its probably a knock off. Also, the detail should be refined as on our piece, where you can even see his whiskers.
