Early 20th Century Cast Iron Bulldog Door Stop

Antique figural cast iron door stop. This piece takes the form of a bulldog in all its tough glory. It features high levels of detail in regards to the face and muscle tone, and sits on a small platform. It is believed to have been painted at one point in time, but the majority of this has been lost to time, save for the eyes. Exhibits minor signs of wear including paint loss and patina. 10.25″ W x 2.5″ D x 7.75 H Please refer to photos regarding condition. 1930’s Hubley / BULLDOG Standing Cast Iron Doorstop 220 Original Paint

This cast iron door stop of a Hubley English Bulldog is a rare beauty. Many of the newer Hubley English Bulldogs doorstops have two matching ears, however. The the older ones, like this, have two different ears. The body is smooth in texture and seams are tight. Body is cream colored, with brown accents on rump and around eyes & ears. There are tiny red accents on the nose & mouth, and black eyes & brows. Original paint on entire body, and there has been no additional paint applied. Due to its use as a doorstop, there is minor paint chipping in the usual places. The single slotted screw holding two pieces together can be seen, under paint, in the photo of the back facing side. With original paint, tight seams, and very serious eyes, this Bully will bring humor to your home or collection. The Hubley Manufacturing Company was in operation beginning in 1894. From what I have read & learned, I would date this doorstop from the early 1900’s. This would make a lovely gift for a new home or for an English Bully owner.

Hubley Cast Iron French Bulldog c. 1930’s

This wonderful, doorstop, in the form of a seated, French Bulldog, just exudes vintage. He was made by Hubley of Lancaster, PA. In the 1930’s and 40’s. He measures a full 7-3/4? Tall x 6-1/2? Long x 4-1/4? Wide. He has his original screw and his seams are tight. He also has his original paint, which includes a snappy red collar. He is old, and his original paint may not be perfect anymore. But he is still a very attractive guy, with a wonderfully alert expression. He would be great as a doorstop, but he would also look amazing on a desk or as a bookend.

Vintage Antique Hubley English Bulldog Cast Iron Dog Statue Doorstop

The box has writing in red #45 Bull Dog and Dog, see pictures. Not sure if it’s a Hubley or not? The dog stands approx. 5 1/2″ tall by 8 1/4″ long and is in very good used condition. This hollow cast iron dog is made of two sections fitted with a screw inside and a flat head screw on backside, see pictures. I do not see name on dog. Dog may have a tiny white spot here and there, edge of foot and ear is a tiny ruff, made that way I assume. Dog has a hole in front behind leg, it’s near that screw, I think it was made that way as well not sure, see pictures and you can be the judge. I noticed a tiny paint drip, see pictures, again made that way I think! I will place dog and box in another box for safe travels. I have no control over the post office. If you see guaranteed by a certain day e-bay has put that on my listing’s, they are guaranteeing it not me! Please contact me if you see this on my listings, I do not know when or why they put it on my listings.
