This high-quality cast iron ram doorstop likely dates back to the early 1900s. Weighing in at approximately 5 1/4 pounds, it is specifically designed to secure most doors. The ram measures 9 inches in width and 7 inches in height, with a depth of around 2 inches. Of significant importance, this doorstop is distinct from the bookend-style variety. Its design is intended to hold a door open at a slight angle, effectively preventing heavier doors from toppling it. It is not meant to stand upright on its own (please refer to the attached picture). The craftsmanship is exceptional, characterized by precise casting (unlike sand-cast reproductions) and meticulous detailing throughout. A similar example is shown in “The Doorstop Book” By John & Nancy Smith on page 165. Very good to excellent condition with some wear to the original gold wash paint. Early 1900’s Full Casting Dutch Boy Cast Iron Doorstop. An hard to find piece with original paint. Full figure casting done in two halves and joined from the back with a screw. Little Dutch boy with wooden shoes standing on a square base. Good original condition with some moderate paint loss, particularly to the face area. Measures 11 inches tall on a 3 1/2 square base.
